Nicholas Henry Hebner

M, #1392, b. 3 May 1767, d. 5 April 1855
Nicholas Henry Hebner was also known as Henry. He was born on Sunday, 3 May 1767 at Germany. He and Catharina Margaretha Stiefers were married. In 1793, he was assigned Lot 21, Concession 2 in Markham Township. He received the Crown Grant in 1803, and in 1807 Daniel Horner purchased the property. Nicholas applied for renewel of his land lease on Saturday, 14 June 1834, for Lot 25, Concession 5, Markam, Upper Canada. The land was part of the Clergy Reserve and his request was granted on July 3, 1834. Images of the request can be found here. He was still living on Lot 25, Conc. 5, Markham Twp., York Co., Ontario, Canada, in 1837. He was listed in the directory as N. H. Hebner. He appeared on the census of 17 September 1850 in the household of Peter Schell at Worth Twp., Sanilac Co., Michigan, USA. He is recorded as: Henry Hubner, 85, male, no occupation, born Germany. Nicholas died on Thursday, 5 April 1855 at age 87 years, 11 months and 2 days. It is quite possible he died at his daughter Mary Shell's home in Michigan, or at his son Daniel's in Oxford County. He was buried at West Oxford United Churchyard Cemetery, Ingersoll, Oxford Co., Ontario, Canada.
